Victorian Public ServiceThe Victorian Public Service (VPS) comprises 10 state Departments and 16 administrative offices, operating statewide and employing around 32,000 staff.
In September 2003 the Office for Workforce Development (OWD), within the Department of Premier and Cabinet, initiated a scoping study to determine whether the current VPS recruitment practices and technology were meeting needs now and into the future.

As the economy shows signs of recovery, many law firms will look at ways to capitilise on a changing recruitment market. Whilst a number of firms have been looking at freezing budgets and putting projects on hold, Phillips Fox, as an innovative player was determined to be at the forefront of other longer term initiatives and invest in a strategic recruitment system.

Over the last two years Lion Nathan has primarily focused on in-house recruitment. This model has worked very successfully in developing a number of internal people as well as enabling us to bring in talent externally. In order to continue to be best practice in our standards of meeting the recruitment requirements of leaders and internal and external candidates we began looking at on-line recruitment technology in early 2003. We also felt this technology would assist us in capturing the continuous interest that we receive from people who would like to join our great company.
