Lion Nathan employs more than 3,000 people across Australia and New Zealand . Over the last two years Lion Nathan has primarily focused on in-house recruitment. This model has worked very successfully in developing a number of internal people as well as enabling us to bring in talent externally. In order to continue to be best practice in our standards of meeting the recruitment requirements of leaders and internal and external candidates we began looking at on-line recruitment technology in early 2003. We also felt this technology would assist us in capturing the continuous interest that we receive from people who would like to join our great company.
After some initial discussions with on-line recruitment providers and other businesses that had implemented similar systems we determined that the scope of the project was significantly larger than we originally thought. We felt in order to drive and implement the project we were going to require specific industry and product knowledge, technology expertise, project and change management expertise, and most importantly considerable time investment.
I first came across Pinpoint HRM when speaking with other companies that had used them to assist in sourcing and implementing on-line recruitment solutions. Their various research reports provide a valuable insight into the changing recruitment landscape, especially the impact of the internet, the adoption of technology and the strategies facilitated by them.
After an informal discussion, Pinpoint HRM provided us with a discussion paper which demonstrated a deep understanding of the recruitment technology industry and the issues we were facing. With this paper I was able to raise the awareness of the true potential amongst the key stakeholders within our business and cover some high level concerns raised by IT.
After engaging Pinpoint HRM to work with us on the project they initially delivered a detailed project plan which guided the development of both a project management governance structure and communications strategy to ensure that representatives from each stakeholder group were engaged. This included a presentation to the executive team which enabled us to create visibility of the project at a senior level which is essential when planning people allocation as well as financial resources.
Pinpoint HRM were involved throughout the development of the business case. This included the design of the new processes facilitated by the technology. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to customer service have exceeded our expectations at every stage. Their industry knowledge and the quality of the tools they have utilised are testimony to their experience with these projects.
Should the project proceed we intend to involve Pinpoint HRM throughout tender development, to provide assistance with the evaluation and to oversee the implementation and transition period. I value their guidance and knowledge of both the technology and the intensive process and communication plan that is required for such a significant investment.
